- Long ago people ate only three meals a day breakfast, dinner and supper. They got up about six oclock and went out to their work fasting. Then they came in and ate their breakfast at about nine oclock. This consisted of oat-bread and souns. When the men went out to reap oats in the morning the women went out after them, and brought in some oats and they got quearns and made meal[?] and then made a bannock and the men ate bread made from meal for which they reaped the oats that morning. For the dinner they ate potatoes, bacon and cabbage and [?] drank buttermilk if they wanted a drink. They always killed a pig for their own use. If there was not enough of place at the table some people ate at the basket at the fire(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
