    the centre of the floor at dinner time. When the potatoes were turned on a basket they were placed on the lasset and the people of the house used to sit around the lasset on stools and eat their dinner. The table was hung up against the wall when not in use and it had one leg.
    Long ago the people used to eat oaten bread and boxty breat. Oaten bread was made of oaten meal wet with warm water and a little salt and sugar. it was rolled out on a board and was baked before a bright fire on a griddle.
    Boxty bread was made of grated potatoes and mixed with salt, soda, flour and butter milk. It was baked on a pan like pan cakes. Meat was only eaten once a week, on Sundays. Meat was always salty because it was home cured.
    Beef or mutton was only eaten at Christmas. Fish used to be eaten during lent.
