    Easter Saturday: The poor people used to go out through the country gathering up eggs. These were called Cludóg. Everyone would give them at least half a dozen eggs. They could sell these.
    Whit Sunday: All the ladies used to turn out in white frocks and white hats.
    Candlemas Day: The days are getting a bit longer and people do not require so much light. So "Throw half of the candle away."

    15th August: There used to be a Green Walk with bands and banners flying and all sorts of political quarrels would follow. The different parties would nearly kill each other with ash plants.

    Michaelmas falls on 2nd September: People eat a green goose, a young goose fed on grass
