- Long ago all the men used to make a lot of baskets out of sally rods. They used to make the frame with thick rods, and then they used to intertwine it in and out with thin rods, and when they would have the basket finished they would put one handle on each side of it.
They used to make them deeper sometimes and carry them on their backs, and they used to call them creels.
