- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)In the year 1919 a great drought affected the country. The rivers, lakes and wells were dried up and there was a great scarcity of water and people had to go miles and miles in search of water that would be sufficient for the needs of the family. Moreover the burning sun rendered some of the people unable to get water, so that they died from thirst. All the doctors were kept busy attending the sick, all that had any sort of illness before the drought came, died off immediately so that the population of the surrounding country was more or less reduced and the people were very glad when after a few months the drought was over and they were able to live normally again.
