    sugar bowls and cans. They always buy them cheap and sell them dear. When they come to the district they generally stay for a week and they camp at a crossroads. Some sleep in tents made of sticks and canvas and others sleep in their vans and others under a bush.
    The best known of these travellers are the Doherties from the north, the Weirs and a man from Donegal. They sell old clothes and other little things.
    All those come in families and each one goes a different way to beg. When night falls those travellers bring all they get in the houses and they eat it and that does them until the next day. If they get nothing they fight and curse the people of the house.
