  1. In olden times the people had only three meals in the day. The meals (consisted) were the breakfast, dinner and supper. The breakfast was eaten at nine o'clock, the dinner at two and the supper at ten o'clock at night. In the morning before eating the breakfast the men brought home turf, milked cows and fed their calves and then they enjoyed their breakfast.
    The breakfast consisted of oaten bread and sweet milk. The dinner consisted of potatoes and butter milk and the supper consisted of either potatoes and milk or oaten bread and butter. On some ocassions potatoes were used at every meal. In some places where people were poor they always used potatoes and salt.
