- St Brigid's day falls on the second of February and it is a very old custom to make crosses on the eve and hang them out of the roof. It is a old custom on Hallowe' en, for boys to pull cabbage heads and to go around from house to house banging the doors with the cabbage and the man of the house chased them and then the boys enjoyed that joke.
