Christmas CustomsIn the day's gone by the people had a great deal of old custom's in commemorating the Christmas. The custom's they had in the olden days were a great deal different than the custom's we have nowaday's. Some years ago the people used to put a yull- log at the back of the fire on Xmas night. All the yull- log was not burned on one night but kept till the following Christmas night.On Xmas Eve night a light used to be placed on every window of the house and the doors left open so that if a poor traveller passed the way he would go into a house when he would see the door's opened.The wren boys long ago used to go from house to house dancing, playing music, and singing Christmas Carols for the twelve days of Xmas but nowaday's they only go out for one day. They used to spend the money they gathered on a night's amusement. Before the Christmas the people decorated their houses with holly and ivy in honour of the coming of(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
