    were caught in the rivers and eaten. People often ate vegetables. The chief vegetables were potatoes.
    People often ate late at night especially in Summer. Certain kind of food was eaten on special occasions such as, at Christmas and on holidays of obligation. Eggs were eaten on Easter Sunday and the usual custom was to string the shells.
    Tea was first used in the district about the eighteenth century. From that onward tea was seldom drank. The principal periods on which tea was drank were at Christmas and on Sundays. This occurred because the tea was very scarce. Before cups came into use wooden
