When the meal was over the fairies gave the peddler a purse of gold in exchange for his sack.
The peddler after thanking the fairies went his way.
As he reached the top of the rock a man came to him and asked him for his gold. As the peddler refused to give up his treasure, the man drew his sword and slew him. The fairies, finding the peddler, took and buried him in the rock. Then they cursed the man. From that day onward that man never had any luck.
The rock is called the Peddler's Rock.
