Long ago people never wore shoes until they were able to work. Nobody in Swords is known not to have worn shoes.
Children still go barefoot throughout the summer time. It is said that two persons should not wash their feet in the same water because if the first person's feet are diseased the second person will take the disease. It is also said that a person with sweating feet should wash his feet in the water in which potatoes were boiled.
A person who has corns or bunions on his feet should put [mo?] in his boots for relief.
Boots and shoes are repaired in Swords. There are three shoemakers who are kept busy all the time repairing boots and shoes.
