Care of the Feet
Long ago people did not wear boots until they had grown up to men and women. They wore them then because they had to protect their feet during their work.
There are no people in Swords who never wore boots, but most of the boys going to school go barefooted all the summer but they all provide a strong pair of boots for themselves in the winter.
When a person washes his or her feet in water, the water that has been used is always thrown away because if another person washes their feet in the same water he will get sickness from it.
There are three boot-makers in Swords at present and they are always kept very busy.
