  1. Mr Michael Monagle [ex NT?] who taught at Coolkeeny NS Malin and who retired about six years ago told me the following story. He said it was told to him by the priest to whom it happened - Father Peter McGerwn who was C C at Malin about 1908'9 years ago. He is now the P P of Greencastle Co Tyrone.
On one occasion he was going to a sick call on horseback at night. He had left the main road and was proceeding up a laneway leading to the house which he had been called to. Suddenly the horse stopped, and strike him and urge him as he would, the animal would not go one step forward.
He was naturally puzzled and in the darkness began to look around for the cause of the trouble. On peering into the darkness at the horse's head he beheld a man 'holding' the horse by the bridle. He made the sign of the cross and called on the being, whatever it was, to depart in the name of the Trinity. The horse at once went forward and he was just in time to baptize two infants who died soon afterwards.
