- Long ago there were people in Inishowen called coopers. There were coopers in Ballyargus and in Whitecastle. These men made tubs, churns, and wooden buckets. These things were made from oak.
The churns were made wide at the bottom, and as they came up they got narrower. They then got wider again towards the top. The top part is called the crib.
The tubs were made narrow at the bottom and wider towards the top. There were two long staves one at each side of the tub to carry it with.- Bailitheoir
