    Christmas there comes a crowd of boys every night to the houses and they say rhymes. There are about four or five crowds and when they (the) come to the house they say some rhymes and a lot of times the have fiddles and other musical instruments with them. They are called Mummers.
    Every Hallow Eve Night people eat apples and nuts and it is an old custom to have poundies for the dinner and also for the supper, poundies are mashed up potatoes which are eaten with milk and butter. The children have games which they play that night. Some have a piece of cord on an apple and hang it to the ceiling and jump at it so as to get a bite and who ever gets the
