When a man sells a beast he gives the (beas) buyer money back, which is called luck's money. A half-crown or five shillings is usually given back as lucks money. When the dealer and the seller come to terms about the money (price of the animal) the seller holds out one of his hands and the buyer strikes on the palm with one of his own hands.
This shows that the bargain is made. After (the) (bargain is made) the cattle are sold each buyer marks his own. The halter is given with the animal after the sale. The May fair and the Lammas fair are the biggest fairs of(continues on next page)- Collector
