- Fairs were held in towns and villages long ago. Dealers in olden times went from house to house buying stock as is the custom yet. Different parts of the town are kept for - stalls, cows, horses, and pigs. When an animal is sold the seller gives so much money to the buyer. That money is called luckspenny.
