When the potatoes are just appearing above the ground they are sprayed this is supposed to keep the insects from destroying the crop. The potatoes are then dug up and put in sacks, brought in and spread out on the barn floor for the winter.
The names of the potatoes are:- Kerr Pinks, British Queens, Champions, Arran Banners, Shamrocks and Irish Queens. The best potatoes grown in this county are the Kerr Pinks.
