Ar an leathanach seo
- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)They have horses and donkeys and carts, and they camp in an old sand - pit at Keenagh cross roads. They travel in families, the most common among them being, Manghans, Collins and Reillys. They stay about a week at a time, and sell tins - saucepans and cans, artificial flowers of their own making, and little oddments as photo-frames, scissors, tie-pins, safety pins, etc. The men-folk mend household utensils, pots, pans, etc. and sweep chimneys. They often beg old clothes for themselves and their children, and sometimes wool and horse hair.
They are unwelcome visitors to the place because they steal turf and hay, and the local people avoid them as much as they can.- Bailitheoir
