The old school was situated on the side of the road opposite to Anderson. It was thirty feet long and twelve feet wide. The walls were twelve feet high with a thatched roof and a cement floor. There was one door and two windows in it. There was no yard around the school. That time the was no state paid teachers teachers[sic]. The scholars had to pay for their education. The scholars that were in first class had to pay a shilling for every quarter. Second class had to pay two shillings for a quarter and every class higher had pay a shilling more.
