    will be married and if in the water he will cross the water. Another custom is to put a ring and a piece of timber in a cake and whoever gets the ring will get married in the comming year and whosoever gets the piece of wood will never get married. An apple is also put in a tub of water and somebody dives in the tub to get the apple.
    On Whit Sunday the people say that it is not right to go near the salt water, and if a person goes to the river he will take sick and die before Whit Sunday of the following year.
    The feast of the Assumption is a great feast day and people go to a holy well called Lady well and do stations round it.
