- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)of the groom. The rest of the party walked in pairs behind them. The mother of the bride never went with them. When they were leaving for the church the tongs or an old shoe was thrown after them.This was said to bring luck.
When the marriage was over the party went into a public house and drank and danced till evening. They now went to either the home of the bride or that of the bride-groom and again a great feast was held they danced and sang till morning.
The feast consisted of potatoes, cabbage or turnips and bacon, tea, loaf bread, and jam. There was an eighteen gallon barrel of porter for the men folk. The women took whiskey or wine.
