  2. Priest Hunters

    In this part of the country there was one priest-hunter. His name Seán an tSagairt. John Moloney was his real name. The English offered a sum of fifty shillings for every Priest’s head he got. Seán heard of this, and he wanted to get the money. Every place he heard there was a priest he went to get his head, he went to the nearest Barricks, and gave the head to the Policeman. In a few days he got the money from the Dublin Castle.
    Seán was a cut throat of the worst description.
