    The lid rests on the narrow part. The sides do not bulge out like those of a barrel. They are straight. My grandfather told me that it is about sixty years old. His father bought it in the market in Athlone.
    there is no mark on it. We churn twice a week in Summer, and once a week in Winter. We all help at the churning. If any person chances to come in he must help at the work. A few turns at the dash will do, but if he, or she, goes out without putting his or her hand to the dash the butter will not come on the churn, as it will go away with the person who came in, but did not help at the churning.
