   When serious blasts spread through the land
   With spies and British Gold
   Which left the best of Irish hearts
   In dungeon dark and cold
   While more escaped from foreign laws
   And left their native shore
   Without a man to raise the flag
   But Johny from Kilmore.
   II
   He dragged it from the tyrants grasp
   And planted it like new.
   The half of Erin stamped in front
   And the dear old shambrock too
   And stalworth men with willing hearts
   Before the green flag swore
   They'd fight for dear old Ireland
   And Johny from Kilmore.
   III
   And when the Winter time arrived
   The nights were long and bright
   He took us down the lonesome fields
   And showed us how to fight
