    Long ago butter and milk were supposed to be stolen

    She will beat off our hounds
    And with horn and with whip
    We will cry tally ho
    And we will knock up this hare

    He soon set her off
    With a fresh pack of hounds
    On comes John McDermott
    With his big black grey hound
    And he drove her
    From these wild hills
    Right into Ballinahown.

    With Garveys witch hare
    That comes from the bogs
