   Notes = These forts are sometimes called Raths. They are not cultivated as the farmers are superstitious and they fear to interfere with them.

   An old man named Terry Tate who lives near Pepper's Fort told me this story. One day he and some other men were making a cart-track through the fort. The work went on well until 4 o Clock. Then they were mysteriously stoned out of the fort. As no one was in sight they think it was the fairies who did it.
