  1. There were a lot of fairs long ago. There was a fair in Ruan and another in Tubber. The Tubber fair is still a big sheep fair. Long ago there used be a great fair in Tubber and as there were not any eating houses in Tubber the Students of Clifton used have a tent up in the fair green at that time and they would be selling tea for four pence a cup and one of them used go round with a cup of tea and be taking an odd sip of it to Show that they were selling it. The time of the faction fights the people used fighting at the fairs in Tubber. There was a man killed inside in his tent in Tubber whose name was O'Grady. Ruan. There was a great fair in Ruan the seventeenth of June and now it is only the name of being a fair but it used to be the next fair to Ballinaslo. There used
