    making of butter such as on May Eve night the people put holy water on the cows the way the fairies would not take the butter. If the butter does not make for the people they would put a piece of a plough in the fire. If anyone comes to the house for milk salt is put into the milk the way the fairies would not like the fat of the milk.

  2. Long ago the old people used to send a lump of butter in around to all the houses in the parish. Before they would make the butter they would throw a horse nail into the churn so that the fairies would not take the butter.
