to bury the dead in the church-yard. After some time their prayer was heard and from that day down to this the De-Profundis is recited by the people who attend the funeral before the corpse enters the grave-yard.
In Tubrid also there is a well known as Saint Ciarain's well. It is told that the Saint appeared to a certain woman who came every day to the well to pray. On this particular day he both appeared and spoke to the woman and told her many things but made her promise that she should tell no-body In stead of doing as she promised every-body she met on her way home heard the story and also heard what the Saint told her. Her punishment was that the Saint never appeared to her again.
