    To-night as I sit by the fire,
    Awaiting the morning to dawn,
    I think of the years I have spent
    Since the drainage it first began.

    From the dole and free beef at Mc. Kiernan's,
    The employment it came as a gift.

    Kildallon, Miltown and Redhills;
    Some working with picks and with shovels
    And more with compressors and drills
