  1. Hardly any of the children go barefoot in this district even in the Summer, and none in the winter.
    Nothing special is done with the water used for washing the feet, and there are no customs or beliefs connected with it.
    No boots are made or repaired locally.
    There are no shoemakers in the district.
    Wooden clogs are still sold in the towns and are still worn by some people in the district.
    Gum boots or Wellingtons made of rubber are very much worn in the district now.
