  1. The people here seem totally unaware of any connection between Shrove and marriage.
    Wednesday is considered a lucky day to get married and Saturday unlucky.
    "Matchmaking" is not customary.
    No recollection of marriages taking palce in houses.
    A wedding party or feast is usually held in the bride's house.
    "Straw-boys" visit the house, dressed all over with straw. They always get a friendly reception and a handsome gift of money.
