  1. 1. This song was made by Harry Smith Know - Co Monaghan after Hallow Eve - It is customary in these parts to take farm implements - gates, carts and such like from various houses on Hallow Eve and deposit them in a hiding place, so that the owner must go in search of them! If the owner be cantankerous and is likely to become very angry, so much the better for the tricksters! Pat Rudden is rather hot tempered and was this selected as a suitable character on whom to play a trick.
The song was given by Ethel Brady, Drumacleiskin, Scotshouse, Clones.
McCaffrey was a servant in Alice Reilly's and was accused of the trick!
