    Dear parish of Drung, the home of my birth.
    Famed for music and song, well commingled with mirth
    That has countless times echoed through its woods hills and vales
    And enlivened the hearts of its young and olf Gaels.
    II
    For in this wide world toil, tears, and strife,
    Well - governed pleasures are essential to life
    Without them unhappy we surely would be.
    And unfit for all progress on land or on sea.
    III
    A real Irish sportsman I have met of late
    As I'm sure could be found in the Irish Free State
    I asked him one question, just one and no more
