    Tullghalust is a townland convenient to this school in the parish of Curran in County Monaghan - in Irish it is Tulach-na-Iosad and means - the height of the well- laid out (tilled) fields" -
    Farmers in Cavan and Monaghan are won't to call -a well laid out field - "my fair losset"
    Scee - a townland near the school, in the parish of Drung, means a seat or sitting place.
    Corakeerin - a townland about a mile from the school, in the parish of Drung, (means a round hill) is Cor-an-chaorthainn) which means the round hill of the keeran or quicken tree.
    Devally = Dubh-Bhealaigh means the dark passage - is so called because of a dismal gloomy bye road which passes through it
