was astonished to hear the voices say. "Kick the ball, John." Now John was his name and it was to him they seemed to be shouting. Poor John kicked the ball and they kept him at it all the night till morning broke. He was so tired that he became black and blue and silly, and never was the same after. So it was said that only he was on the fairies' path, they would not go near him. He certainly, had a hard night of it
