    A man named Mr. Smith lived in Virginia at the back of the Market House a very long time ago.
    He had a forge in it about seventy years ago. He used to make wing slanes from old spades and shovels.
    These spades he made were very bad. The head of them were two feet long and four ins wide.
    They were as heavy as four spades are now. These spades used to last for five years. After five years they would bring (they would) them back to the forge and get shoes made out of them for the horses.
