  1. Travelling folk do not frequent this district except about twice a month. They usually stop overnight in some county house near the town. Most of those men cycle from place to place on bicycles and keep their goods in an attache case on the caviers of their bicycles. They sell such small articles as combs, toothbrushes, and stockings, also ties and other small clothing. They are generally welcomed by the people of the house that they have made their acquaintance with previously. They do not carry any food about with them, because their is no place for it, and food partly exposed to the weather is not very wholesome to eat. The people whom they know usually provide them with a free meal; or in return for a few articles. They are usually found on a fair day in this district bargaining in some quiet corner with a country man. They depart on that fair evening for some neighbouring town to sell their wares. They are supposed to be very rich although they do not act as such people. They do not usually accept alms, except they are very poor. They are also very superstitious.
