  2. A lot of old houses were built long ago. A lot of the houses are thatched. They are thatched with rushes that grow in the bogs.
    The people usually thatch their houses with oaten-straw or wheaten-straw.
    The walls are made of mud and stones. The fire place is made of mud and stones. The people around this district have their fire grates in the gable end of the house and the bed-room was separated from the fire place by a curtain.
    The kitchen in the old houses long ago was very small.
    The floors of the houses long ago were made of mud.
