   I do not know of any Poets who lived in our district except my Grandmother and a brother of hers named John Doyle. Her name was Catherine Doyle. She lived all her life in Ballyglisheen and is buried in Saint Mullins. All her ancestors had the gift of Poetry. John Doyle used to write verses for a Liverpool paper about the timeof the Fenians. She often composed verses but never wrote them until a few years before she died. One of them was "Clashganny's Verdant Vales" and the other "Sweet Blackstairs". She was admiring the Blackstairs Mountains. Just about the time of the Civil War she composed some verses the last verse went as follows. The rays of Phoebes are going to leave us And night approaches in dark array Which causes me now for to retire and straight way homewards to wend my way
