  1. Local Famous Men
    A Famous Racer.
    Mr. John Joe Kinahan, Clareen, Birr, was a famous cyclist in his day. He won many races in and outside Ireland.
    He won the world championship three times in America in bicycle races. He held the Irish championship for racing thirteen times. He cycles from Limerick to Dublin in a little over three hours. He is still living in Clareen.
    The strongest man I know is William Fleury, Killyon, Birr. He throws the 56lbs weight over 23ft. He is also a great sheaf pitcher.
