    Bird Lore (Continued)
and if any young chickens or ducks are there she kills them for punishment. Little boys are told that if they rob birds nests besides being cruel they bring bad luck to their homes.
When stormy weather is expected only one magpie leaves the nest so one magpie in view is looked upon as a bad omen or sign.
There is a legend that the robin's breast is red because it was under our Saviour's Cross when He was crucified and it's breast got spotted over with the drops of blood which fell from His side and it's breast is red ever since.
