    by chains which are fastened to stakes, and they are made of iron. They are not homemade. A horse shoe is generally hung at the back of the cowhouse door, to bring good luck on the stock.
    If you sing for the cow when milking her, she will flow the milk down to you.
    There is nothing kept in a horse stable but horses.
    It has a separate stall and a manger for each horse.
    The walls are generally built with stones and bricks, and they are white-washed inside, the floors are made of clay and big rocks, but nowadays cement floors are the most usual.
    The horses are foddered every morning and evening with hay and oats.
    They have to be shod every time the shoes fall off.
    They have to be clipped twice every year, in the Winter and in the Summer.
    Goats are kept with cows to bring good luck on them.
