there. it was seen by two women out "footing" turf. They had a baby with them and something took away the child. When they went to look at at the child it was gone. They saw footmarks, and followed them until they came to an elder tree. They saw the child going down under the tree. they began to cry for the child, and all the neighbours came round them and dug a big hole. Under the flag they got a crock of gold.
They took the flag home with them but no one could read the writing on it. One day a beggar came in for a copper. He saw the flag and could read the writing on it, but did not tell the people in the house the meaning. This is what was on it. "Dig the other side of the bush, and you will get three times as much." He went to the place where the money was to be got, he dug a big hole, and got the money.
