    Bread
    "Bread is the staff of life" Everyone whether he be rich or poor has bread.
    A great many people prefer to make their own bread. Here in this district bread is made by the people in abundance. Several classes of bread are made. They are, pancakes, griddle cakes, scones, oven cakes, both brown and white bread and potato cakes. Most of the ingredients used are obtained locally. The flour used is ground in Clara which is seven miles from Tullamore. The old people remember when the flour was ground by hand. Some wheat was put on a flat
