Chalk Sunday. The people in this district put a chalk mark on the bachelors because Chalk Chalk Sunday is the Sunday after Shrove. Shrove is a great time for getting married.
Michaelmas Day. The children in this district eat a great many blackberries on Michaelmas Day because blackberries are bad to eat after that day.
Easter Sunday. The people eat a great many eggs on Easter Sunday because they hens lay a great many eggs at Easter.
Little Christmas. The women have a great feast on Little Christmas because they have a busy time during Christ-ready m-mas getting ready meals for the men.
