  1. There was once a man named Mr Carty and he was ploughing in a field. He looked back to see if the scrape was straight. Standing on the scrape was a little man about afoot high with long hair down to his shoulders. He often had heard his parents say that if a person saw a fairy, to keep his eyes on it and he would get a crock of gold.
    He meant to keep his eyes on the fairy but he forgot and turned to look at the horses. When he turned round again the fairy had vanished, and he never saw a fairy after that.
