A long time ago a man died in Hayestown (Taghmon, Co Wexford, Bantry) sitting up in his bed.

The people of the house did not use him until he was stiff.
They laid him out alnight till they came to stretch him out, which they were not able to do.
They had to lie him to the bed with ropes. Some of the purtie boys were at the wake, and they knew about him bein tied down, and they cut the ropes.
Immediately the man sprung up an' the people thought he was alive, so they fled for their lives.
